Product Description
Typically, mica shields are supplied as complete with gauge glass and seal , but can also be supplied separately. We can also supply plates for non-standard sizes and shapes.
Common mica grades used as sight glass shields:
V2 Ruby Clear and slightly stained - navy grade quality, hard, of uniform color, may contain slight crystallographic discoloration, free from all vegetable and mineral stains, cracks, buckles and other similar defects and foreign inclusions except for a few tiny air inclusions in more than one-fourth of the useable area.
V4 Ruby good stained- hard, of uniform color, may contain slight crystallographic discoloration, free from vegetable and mineral stains, cracks, buckless and other similar defects and foreign inclusions, except somewhat wavy but not rippled, may contain some air inclusions in not more than two-thirds of the usable area.

· aluminosilicate and borosilicate glass protection against steam and water,
· glass protection from acids, reactive and corrosive substances.
Mica offer a clean surface for EM applications, carbon filming and particle spraying, as well as for AFM applications. There are two types of mica: muscovite and phlogopite. Generally, one differs from the other by color (Muscovite is Ruby, Green or White; Phlogopite is Amber, Yellow, or Silver). The maximum operating temperature for Muscovite is about 500-600°C and for Phlogopite is about 800-900°C.
